CINCINNATI (AP) - John McCain is denouncing the comments of a radio talk show host who, while warming up an Ohio campaign crowd, referred repeatedly to Barack Hussein Obama and called the Democratic presidential candidate a "hack, Chicago-style" politician.
McCain told reporters he wasn't on stage or in the building when talk show host Bill Cunningham made the comments, but he quickly distanced himself from Cuningham after finishing his speech.
The Arizona Republican says he didn't know about the remarks, but said he takes responsibility for them. He added that he would continue to treat Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton with respect.
Cunningham used Obama's middle name -- Hussein -- three times and also mocked the Illinois senator's foreign policy statements about his willingness to meet with the leaders of rogue nations.
