Crossville Lady Lions Take Aliceville in Dramatic 60-59 Finish

(BIRMINGHAM) - Courtney Thacker scored 23 points, brought down 9 rebounds, and scored the game-winning jumper with :03 left in the game to advance the Crossville Lady Lions to the 3A Girls Championship with a 60-59 victory over Aliceville, Tuesday morning.

Crossville will play the winner of the Geneva-Lauderdale County semi-final game which started at noon.

Crossville led by as many as nine points, 51-42, with 7:34 to go in the final quarter, but the Lady Yellow Jackets went on a 15-6 run, culminating with an Ashley Williams jumper to tie the game with 2:00 left.

After a couple of turnovers by both sides, a steal, and a time out, Thacker made good on one of two shots from the line to put Crossville in front by one with : 20 left, but Aliceville went ahead, 59-58, on a layup by Tiedre Owens.

Thacker fouled Owens with :09 left, but Owens missed a chance to put Aliceville up by two. Thacker took control of the rebound and scored on a jumper with just :03 left on the clock.

Emily Peek added 19 points and 8 rebounds for the Lady Lions. Crossville shot a consistent 41.2% from the floor through the game. Aliceville shot just 31.4% in the second half.

Crossville finishes the season 22-11. Aliceville finishes at 25-10.
