17-Point Comeback Helps Butler Overcome Talladega, 75-71

(JACKSONVILLE) - Trailing by 17 points midway through the 3rd quarter, Butler stormed back with a 26-2 run to defeat Talladega at the 5A Northeast Semi-Finals in Jacksonville, Wednesday, 75-71.

Butler (25-5) will move on to play Anniston, which beat Butler's city rival Johnson in a buzzer-beater earlier in the day.

The Tigers (27-4) had a chance to regain the lead in the final 20 seconds, but O'Bryan Davis, the Tigers' top scorer with 20 points, missed a jumper with his team down, 72-71.

After the Rebs' Trevor Lacey sunk a free throw, Talladega missed a potential tying shot befor Justin Pride's two free throws insured the win.

After leading at the half, 38-32, the Tigers had used an 8-0 run in the 3rd quarter to go ahead, 51-34, their largest margin. That's when Butler reeled off 16 straight points to climb within three, 53-50, as the quarter ended.

A Jermarieous Chandler layup put the Rebels up for good, 56-55, with 6:46 to play.

Lacey was Butler's top scorer with 18 points.
