5A Girls NW Semi-Finals Brewer 73, Mortimer-Jordan 38 The Brewer Patriots overcame a slow 12-5 1st quarter start to finally blow away the Mortimer-Jordan Blue Devils by 35 points. Brewer outscored MJHS, 26-6, in the 2nd quarter. They turned the ball over only 13 times in the game. Morgan Crawley led the Patriots with 18 points.
5A Girls NW Semi-Finals Wenonah 52, Hartselle 38 Karneisha Garnett scored 15 points and brought down 10 rebounds as the Lady Dragons coasted from a comfortable 40-19 lead entering the 4th quarter. The Lady Tigers shot just 29.2% for the game.
5A Boys NW Semi-Finals Muscle Shoals 54, Walker 49 Ralston Turner's 24 points and 13 rebounds carried the Muscle Shoals Trojans to the NW finals on Saturday. The Vikings took a one-point lead, 49-48, with 1:35 left in the game on a free throw by Harold Clay. A layup by Brett Guzay put the Trojans up for good with 1:01 left in the game. After a missed three-pointer by Walker's Jeff Ward, Matt Creel sunk a pair of free throws with :38 left in the game to add to the Trojans lead. Another free throw by Ralston Turner with :12 left put the victory on ice.
5A Boys NW Semi-Finals Wenonah 67, Russellville 60 Russellville's home winning streak of 30 games came to an end in the first round of the playoffs at Hanceville. Wenonah's brother tandem of Jeremy and Jarrett Towns combined for 33 points and 17 rebounds.
2A Boys NW Semi-Finals Mars Hill 61, West Morgan 49 Will Myhan knocked down 3 three-pointers in the 2nd quarter to lead the Panthers over the West Morgan Rebels (20-10). Mars Hill will play Tanner in the title game, Friday. Mars Hill hit 6-of-8 from the line in the final two minutes to seal the win. Myhan finished with 15 points.
2A Boys NW Semi-Finals Tanner 71, Cold Springs 56 Latraius Mosley sank 5-of-8 of his team's 7-of-15 three pointers and scored 24 points to lead the unranked Rattlers to an upset victory over #3 Cold Springs (21-10). Tray Cosby added 19 points for Tanner, now 21-10. Anthony Vinson scored 13 points for the Eagles, which made just 2-of-17 from downtown.
2A Girls NW Semi-Finals Tanner 51, Red Bay 36 The Lady Rattlers (18-13) went on a late 15-2 run to blow open a tight game. Tanner led by just a 29-26 margin entering the 4th quarter. Sierra Sales led the Lady Rattlers with 21 points and 11 rebounds. The Lady Tigers finish the season 22-9.
2A Girls NW Semi-Finals Cold Springs 73, Hatton 57 Where the boys failed, the girls succeeded. Turnovers in the 1st quarter gave Cold Springs an early 25-10 advantage. Kayla Johnson nailed a three-pointer with just under six minutes remaining to give the Lady Eagles a comfortable 15-point lead from which the Hornets never recovered. The top-ranked Lady Eagles punched their ticket for Friday's NW title game agaginst Tanner.
