(HUNTSVILLE) - Over the course of the season, Butler topped the Johnson Jaguars on the way to winning the Huntsville Times Classic. Monday night, they picked up another big win over Johnson.
Ralph Eason's 17 points led the Rebels to an easy 70-51 sinking of Johnson to win the Class 5A, Area 15 title at Johnson's court.
Johnson (22-10) led by as many as six points early in the 1st quarter, but Butler (23-5) countered with a run to close the 1st quarter trailing only by a 14-13 score.
The Rebs finally took the lead in the 2nd quarter, 20-19, with 4:19 remaining, before taking a two-point halftime lead.
The turning point was a 10-point run by Butler in the 3rd quarter after Johnson regained the lead, 37-36, with 4:27 left the quarter. They outscored the Jags, 18-3, to close the quarter.
Johnson cut Butler's lead to eight in the final quarter, but 55-47 was as close as they would get. Dallas Jones hit a three-pointer to stop their momentum. Jones finished with 13 points, making all three of his long shots. Jamarious Chandler had 12 points and Trevor Lacey, 11.
Josh Langford led Johnson with 20 points.
Butler will host Southside (Gadsden), Friday in sub-regional play. Johnson will go to Fort Payne.
