(FLORENCE) -- The UNA Lions scored 11 runs in the first three innings to cruise to a 14-4 win over Arkansas (Monticello), Sunday, closing out a three-game sweep of the Boll Weevils.
UNA outscored Monticello, 45-10, in the three games and outhit UAM, 39-18.
UNA scored 4 runs in the 1st inning off just one hit, a single by right fielder Jeff Ritter, then added a run in the 2nd and a 6-run 3rd for an 11-0 lead.
UAM (0-6) finally got on the board with a run in the 6th but UNA answered with three in the bottom of the inning.
The Boll Weevils got three runs off UNA reliever Trey Mitchell in the 7th but the game was called after 7 innings.
Ritter was 2-for-3 for the Lions and drove in 3 runs. Cole Mitchell also had two hits, scored twice and drove in two runs.
UNA starter Branden Tepe (1-0) cruised through 5 2/3 innings, holding UAH to a run on three hits. He walked one and struck out five.
UNA pulled off a triple steal in the win in the second inning when Collin Murphy, Nick Newberry and Jeffrey Ritter all walked with two outs. Murphy then stole home on a straight steal as Newberry took third and Ritter stole second.
UNA stole 12 bases in the series.
UAM made 19 errors in the three-game series and allowed 18 unearned runs.
For the series, Ritter was 9-for-12 with 6 runs scored and 13 RBIs. Josh Graham was 7-for-9 with 5 runs scored and three runs driven in.
