(WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.) - The Huntsville Havoc snapped an 8-game losing streak, scoring two goals in the game's final 3:12, then scoring 1:14 into overtime, for a 5-4 win over the Twin City Cyclones, Tuesday night.
Emery Olauson scored two goals, including the game-winner, and assisted on two others for the Havoc.
Both teams traded goals in the first period. John Gurskis put Twin City ahead with a goal at 2:59 into the game, then Olauson tied it at the 16-minute mark, assisted by Kyle Sheen and Edan Welch.
The Havoc took a 2-1 lead at 1:48 of the 2nd period on a power-play goal by Tristan Fairbarn, but the Cyclones countered with a shot from Taylor Hustead at 11:40. Daryl Moore assisted for the 2nd time in the game.
Twin City then went ahead, 3-2, with a goal by Allan Sirois, assisted by Jason Cassells. Sean Walsh had a power-play goal 6:56 into the 3rd period to give Twin City a 4-2 edge, but Huntsville rallied late in the period with two power play goals.
The Havoc went 3-for-10 on the power play.
Travis Kauffeldt scored with 3:12 left to cut the deficit to 4-3, then Jordan Weibel forced overtime with 33 seconds left in regulation.
Steve Briere got his first win for the Havoc, stopping 38 of 42 shots. Peter Vetri stopped 29 shots in the loss.
The two teams will meet again Thursday night in Winston-Salem.
