(ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla.) - UAH pushed across 3 runs in the top of the 8th and 4 in the 9th to win their first game of the season, Sunday, against Flagler College, 8-1.
Neither team could get on the scoreboard until the 5th when Chargers' center fielder Luke Putnam singled to score 2nd baseman Jake Lee.
The Saints (3-1) came back to tie it in the bottom half off Curacaoan native Indjomar Juliana. Juliana had a solid outing in his first career start going five innings and scattering four hits.
Joe Dunlap went 1 1/3 innings without giving up a run and striking out 2, before Jacob Wray, who picked up the win, finished up the game.
Lee got the 8th inning rally started with a leadoff walk. A Saints error allowed shortstop Will Nichols to reach and a sacrifice bunt put Lee and Nichols into scoring position.
Nick Huckaby pushed across the go-ahead run with a groundout before right fielder Blake Butler singled in Nichols to give UAH a 4-1 lead. Huckaby also drove two more in in the 9th to cap the Chargers' 4-run 9th.
The Chargers open their home season at Joe Davis Stadium, Saturday, against Georgia College and State at 1 pm.
