(HUNTSVILLE) - The Huntsville Stars have tapped the next lower rung of the Brewers' ladder for their new general manager.
Buck Rogers, former GM of the Class A-Brevard County Manatees since 2004, has been hired by Stars' owner Miles Prentice. Brevard County is the Class A farm club of the Milwaukee Brewers, one level below the Stars.
Rogers replaces Tom Van Schaack, the Stars general manager the past three seasons, who turned in his resignation last week. He is expected to work through the week.
Rogers is expected to bring some creativity to the Stars' promotions lineup. During the Manatees' season, various team employees, including the team president, were attacked by a "pie-roving maniac" and a PBJ sandwich-eating contest was held to give away a new car. The Manatees also set a world record for most honorary first pitches thrown before a game.
Rogers was previously GM for the Daytona Cubs, also of the Florida State League. His wife, Babs, is also expected to work in the Stars front office.
The Stars' 24th season is just two months away
