Wife of slain officer gives back to the community

Leslie Freeman, wife of Huntsville Police Officer Eric Freeman, wants to ensure that all officers killed in the line of duty will be remembered.

Leslie has indicated that the best way to honor her husband is for all proceeds from the sale of her husband's memorial t-shirts to go directly to the Huntsville Police Department's Fallen Officers' Memorial. Proceeds would have benefited Eric's wife and five children.

In a written statement, Leslie said, "words cannot express our deep gratitude for the expression of love, support and prayers given from police officers, firefighters, deputies, religious organizations and individuals from the community. Eric would be proud and humbled and we can think of no better way to honor him, along with officer Daniel Golden and others who have taken an oath to to serve and to protect."

Reynolds said donations to the Fallen Officers' Memorial can be made by calling (256) 564-8036. Order forms can also be obtained at www.hsvcity.com/police.
