(HUNTSVILLE) - 3rd-ranked Butler High forced 28 turnovers to win their 15th straight game in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Classic at Huntsville High, Monday, over Hewitt-Trussville, 66-37.
The Holiday Classic featured four teams from Huntsville and four teams from their interstate rivals in Birmingham.
Butler improves to 17-4.
Although the Rebels won handily, they committed 22 turnovers, themselves -- 8 of them in the 4th quarter -- and led by just eight points at the half.
But the Rebels outscored Hewitt, 23-8 in the 3rd quarter and hit 56.9% from the floor, while pressuring their opponent to under 40%. Ryan Erwin led Butler offensively with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Ralph Eason added 16 more and Trevor Lacey 13.
Butler never trailed after Erwin's basket with 2:29 to go in the 1st quarter made it 9-7.
