(MONTEVALLO) - UAH could not cork the sizzling Montevallo Falcons, who shot 68% in the 2nd half, on the way to a 62-49 victory over the Chargers, Monday night on the road.
It was Montevallo's 9th straight win over UAH. The Chargers fall to 7-9, 1-1 in the Gulf South Conference.
The Chargers' didn't do badly in the 2nd half, themselves, making 55% of their shots, but despite trailing only by four at halftime (25-21), they couldn't make up for a 27.3% first half.
Montevallo, overall, hit 52% and held a 35-31 advantage on the boards. The Chargers, also, didn't help themselves from the charity stripe, missing 7-of-10 shots.
Terrill Humphrey led Montevallo with a game-high 18 points. Jonathon Hewitt added 13.
Forward Cody Jones led the Chargers with 13 points and 5 rebounds.
UAH had a brief lead in the final 20 minutes after Jordan Brewer knocked in a jumper with 14:52 left to give the Chargers a 31-29 lead. However, the Falcons answered with a 10-1 run to take control of the game.
The Chargers rallied, capped off by a three-pointer by Tyler Hanback which cut the Falcons lead to 41-40 with 9:50 left, but the Falcons went on another 10-1 run to take a 51-41 lead with 5:03 remaining. They pulled away after that.
The women's basketball team also lost to Montevallo, 63-58. They go to 7-8.
UAH returns from a 1-2 road trip to play West Florida at Spragins Hall, Saturday.
