(HUNTSVILLE) - Goalie Matt Climie shut out the UAH Chargers for the 3rd time this season as CHA leader Bemidji State blanked the UAH Chargers at the Von Braun Center, Friday night, 4-0.
Bemidji State (10-9-2) took a 1-0 lead at 8:14 of the 1st period when Beaver defenseman Cody Bostock rifled a wrist shot from inside the blueline.
The Beavers wasted little time after the first intermission to make it 2-0 as Tyler Lehrke scored at 2:13. Cody Bostock made it 3-0 on a power play at 6:31.
The Chargers had a huge scoring opportunity minutes later in the period when sophomore Cale Tanaka found forward Tyler Hilbert behind the Bemidji defense. Hilbert raced in on a breakaway but Climie made a great stop.
A high-sticking call on the Beavers' Riley Reslowski gave the Chargers a 5-on-3 advantage with :28 seconds left on the power play, but the CHA's top penalty-killing unit kept the Chargers off the scoreboard.
Chris McKelvie made it a 4-0 later in the 3rd at 6:34 with a quick wrist shot.
Sophomore goalie Blake MacNicol stopped 23 of 27 shots in the loss while Climie stopped 23 shots in the shutout victory.
The Chargers are now 2-11-2 on the season and winless in 7 games with two ties in the CHA. The two teams battle again, Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. at the Von Braun Center.
