In her first public response since losing her husband December 15th, the wife of slain Huntsville Police Officer Eric Freeman gave WAFF 48 News a short letter of thanks to pass along to the community.
Leslie Freeman wants to thank everyone for their prayers and kind words.
In the 3 paragraph letter, Leslie writes: "Eric always told me he loved 'his town' and it was because of the wonderful people he had the privilege of serving every day."
Officer Freeman was gunned down while working a traffic accident December 14th.
He passed away the next morning, leaving behind Leslie and their 5 children.
