(OXFORD, MISS.) - 18th-ranked Ole Miss scored the game's first 13 points and never looked back as the Rebs broke an 80-year old record by winning its 13th straight game, 86-50, over Alabama A&M Wednesday night at Tad Smith Coliseum.
The Bulldogs, who trailed by as many as 28 points late in the 1st half, finish their non-conference schedule 3-7.
Eniel Polynice started the game with five straight points for Ole Miss, then David Huertas hit consecutive 3-pointers and Jeremy Parnell slammed home an alley-oop pass from Huertas to give Ole Miss a 13-0 lead just 2:48 into the game.
Huertas led the Rebels with 17 points. Chris Warren added 15. Dwayne Curtis finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
LaNorris Smith led Alabama A&M with 12 points. Andrew Williams had 10. Mikell Gladness had 8 points and 7 rebounds.
Trevor Gaskins' 3-pointer gave Ole Miss a 28-point lead with a minute to go on the way to a 46-19 halftime lead.
Turnovers fueled both runs as Ole Miss scored 17 points on 13 turnovers in the 1st half and the Rebels had 8 steals and held the Bulldogs to 24.1% shooting in the half and 31% overall.
Picked to finish last in the SEC West for the 2nd straight season, Ole Miss is just among six undefeated teams left this season. They still have their doubters, but they could prove them wrong when they travel to play 8th-ranked Tennessee, next Wednesday.
The Bulldogs will open their SWAC season Saturday in Jackson, Miss. versus Jackson State.
