(RICHMOND) - The Huntsville Havoc rallied from a 2-0 hole in the 1st period to pull out a 4-3 over the Richmond Renegades in a shootout at Richmond Coliseum, Friday night.
Matt Carmichael stopped 40 of 43 shots, the first two coming at 9:58 and 14:03 of the opening period on goals by Dan Vandermeer and Drew Madeiros.
Dan Buccella then scored the next two goals for the Havoc, scoring on assists by Jonathan Lounsbury and Justin Keller late in the 2nd period and then just 1:51 into the 3rd period on assists by Tim Hockley and Kyle Sheen.
Richmond regained the lead on a Brett Needham goal with 9:35 left in the third, but the Havoc, playing their first game in eight days, tied the game on a power play goal by Craig Bushey with 4:05 left.
Matt Carmichael stopped four shots in the shootout while A.J. Bucchino, newly-acquired from Jacksonville, could only stop three. Tim Hockley scored on the first shot while Travis Kauffeldt got the game-winner in the shootout.
The Havoc stay on the road when they visit the Twin City Cyclones, tonight in Winston-Salem.
