(MADISON) - Senior guard Jessie Clark, a Super All-Metro selection last season, scored 10 points in the 1st quarter and 17 in the 1st half as Hazel Green's Lady Trojans crushed Elmore County, 66-35, in the opening game of the 7th annual Huntsville Times Ladies Classic at Bob Jones High School in Madison.
The Lady Trojans led 30-7 at the end of the 1st quarter, 41-23 at the half, and 55-27 entering the 4th quarter.
Clark was backed up by Jasmin Quinn's 12 points, freshman Chelsi Carter had 11 and Alex Salomonsky added 10 for the Lady Trojans (8-3), who play Bradley Central (11-3) in the 2nd round Friday at 3 p.m.
Hazel Green suffered earlier season losses to Sparkman, Bob Jones, and Buchhorn -- teams with a combined four losses.
Elmore County (3-7) was led by Shun Birmingham with 14 points and Kayla Wilson with 12.
In other games from the Times Classic, Bob Jones defeated Northridge, 64-43... Johnson defeated Carver, 54-45... Austin pounded Lincoln County 53-37... Lee (Montgomery) crushed Grissom, 63-32, and Decatur held back Huffman, 53-39.
