Poem for Fallen Officers

I Am the One

I am the one that saw you at your worst and visualized your best,

I am the one you will not forget,

I am the one that watched your home as you slumbered,

I am the one that fed your needs when criminally you hungered,

I am the one that comforted your friends,

I am the one you thanked in the end,

I am the one that disciplined you when you were wrong,

I am the one that taught you all along,

I am the one that gave you a shoulder while you cried,

I am the one upon whose strength you relied,

I am the one that shared your pain,

I am the one that looked for no fame

I am the one that shared in your stories,

I am the one that requested no glory,

I am the one in indigo blue,

I am the one proud of protecting you,

I am the one gone but not forgotten,

I am the one living in the eyes and hearts of our children,

I am the one unseen as I stand with my comrade brother and sisters,

I am the one that will help them survive through the disasters,

I am the one that will live through future generations,

I am the one that will be their inspiration,

I am the one you weep for now,

I am the one whose spirit is still embracing and protecting my town.
