(HUNTSVILLE) - Mike O'Sullivan and Brett Cross scored two goals each as the Huntsville Havoc snapped a 4-game losing streak with a 6-3 victory over the Jacksonville Barracudas, Thursday night before a crowd of 2,528 at the Von Braun Center.
Huntsville improves to 6-7 and is tied with Richmond for last place in the SPHL in points (12), but is a step ahead at 6th with the better won-lost record.
O'Sullivan opened the scoring at 19:31 of the 1st period when he beat Barracudas goalie Tim Haun with a top shelf shot on James Patterson' behind-the-net pass.
Jacksonville (6-4-3) tied it up at 1:17 of the 2nd period on Ryan Webb's 6th goal, but the Havoc went one up, 2-1, with Trevor Karasiewicz's 3rd goal of the year at 9:52. The Barracudas made it 2-2 on a power play goal by Pat Doherty close to the end of the period.
The Havoc's 4-goal flurry in the final period began with Brett Cross, returning from an injury, at 1:51 on an assist from Craig Bushey.
The Havoc never lost the lead after Tristan Senior's goal at 10:11, putting them ahead, 4-2.
Cross and O'Sullivan padded Huntsville's lead near the end of the game, giving them the 6-3 final.
Matt Carmichael recorded 37 saves on 40 shots. The Havoc were 0-for-2 on the power play. Huntsville goalie Matt Carmichael made 37 saves and goes to 5-3 on the season.
Chad Mortenson, a Sparkman High grad, was in uniform for the Barracudas as an emergency backup goalie, wearing #35.
Huntsville will host Columbus tonight at 7:30.
