Toxic remnants of business fire removed

Clean-up is underway while investigators work to determine the cause of the fire at Gulf Eagle Supply.

The company's warehouse was destroyed by fire Tuesday morning.

It happened at around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday on Dan Tibbs Road.

A total of 50 firefighters from Harvest, Monrovia, Toney, Huntsville, Madison City, and Redstone Arsenal responded to the business, which is home to roofing supplies.

They focused mainly on containing the fire to one building. Today they're disposing of toxic waste, which includes making sure the contaminants don't seep into the community's drinking water.

The clean-up process could take from seven to ten days.

There's no word on the cause of the fire.
