Who does my donation help?

When Morgan County residents make a can donation to the WAFF 48 Heart of the Valley Can-a-thon your donation is distributed by the Volunteer Center of Morgan County. The Volunteer Center works with many agencies in Morgan County to provide food donations that are used to help people our community.

The mission of the Volunteer Center of Morgan County is to mobilize people and resources to address the issues that are important to the community and strengthen the capacity of local organizations to meet community needs through volunteerism. The WAFF Heart of the Valley Can-a-thon is one representation of our mission in action.

When is the WAFF 48 Heart of the Valley Can-a-thon?

The WAFF 48 Heart of the Valley Can-a-thon is Thursday, December 5. There are twelve counties in North Alabama participating in the event including Morgan County.

How can I make a donation?

Everyone is encouraged to bring a donation to the Decatur Mall on the Beltline on December 5. Many donations are made by schools, offices and churches that have held their own can drives in the weeks and months leading up to the WAFF 48 Heart of the Valley Can-a-thon. On December 5, they will deliver their entire can collection to the Decatur Mall parking lot to donate it to the Can-a-thon.

You can also drop off your donations at the following locations:

  • Mellow Mushroom
  • Somerville Public Library
  • Decatur Public Library
  • Habitat for Humanity ReStore
