DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) - Who's the new guy? The nameplate reads Fred Thompson, as the Republican presidential candidates make room for another at their sixth major debate of the 2008 campaign today in Dearborn, Michigan.
The debate is focusing on economic issues and Thompson, the veteran actor and former Tennessee senator who is making his first debate appearance about a month into his candidacy.
Thompson has struggled at times to answer questions on some topics. But he's stayed competitive in national polls, and has raised a respectable 12 million dollars over four months.
