Robert Anthony Schmickel, convicted of raping a 15-year-old girl
After serving time he moved to Mississippi, but would eventually move back to Alabama and reside in Red Bay, which is in Franklin County.
Deputies arrested him for failing to register as a sex offender and secondly living too close to a school.
Schmickel was convicted of the Class C felony, got a suspended sentence pending good behavior, and after his release he was transferred to the Red Bay City Jail to face misdemeanor charges.
Part of his sentencing required him to go in and register but he never did.
Schmickel was picked up in Lamar County, Mississippi to be extradited back to Alabama.
