Who: For homeless veterans of north Alabama
What: Operation Stand Down Huntsville
When: November 2, 3 & 4
Where: Joe Davis Stadium, Leeman Ferry Rd. Huntsville Alabama
Why: During the event the attending Homeless Veteran's will have on site access to VA Doctors and nurses sent from the Birmingham VA's office, counseling, legal advice from attorneys, help identifying benefits for which they are eligible and assistance filling out paperwork to apply for those benefits, there will be representatives from the many of the local service organizations such as employment and housing. They will receive free hair cuts, showers and clean clothes as well as coats etc to help them get through the winter months.
History: Operation Stand Down's started on the west coast about 20 years ago. Over the years they have been held all over the United States. This is the first Operation Stand Down for the Huntsville/North Alabama area. They have been held in Birmingham for several years.
