WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Bob Corker (R-TN) made the following comments today in regards to the MoveOn.org ad attacking Commanding General David Petraeus in today's New York Times. Corker has joined colleagues in a letter to Majority Leader Harry Reid asking him to denounce the ad.
"I know General Petraeus personally and believe him to be a man of great integrity. It is absolutely unconscionable that any group would try to politicize and diminish his service to our country in this disingenuous way," said Corker.
"Regardless of how anyone in this country may feel about our situation in Iraq and the best way forward, General Petraeus - who has served our country with courage, honor and distinction for more than three decades - deserves our utmost respect. I hope my colleagues will join me in giving him our respect and in actually listening to the testimony he and Ambassador Crocker deliver this week."
