Farron Barksdale's autopsy results expected soon

An autopsy report will soon reveal what caused the death of Farron Barksdale, the man who shot and killed two Athens police officers.

The Alabama Department of Forensic Science has closed an autopsy on Barksdale;however, the Corrections Department said they have not yet received the report.

Barksdale was found comatose in his cell at Kilby Correctional Facility in Montgomery in August.

He died 10 days later and because the cause of the coma was unknown, the Department of Corrections Officials requested an autopsy.

Huntsville Attorney Robert Tuten, one of Barksdale's defense team, said he was awaiting autopsy results before determining a course of action against the Department of Corrections in the death of his client.

WAFF 48 Investigators are working to learn more about the autopsy report.
