Stadium bid delays

State Architect officials have put bid delays on a new high school stadium in Albertville.

School board members there hoped to open construction bids on the new stadium.

WAFF 48's Eric Sollman has more.

The past year has been busy for the Albertville School Board dealing with the renovation of Albertville High School.

Still, they're showing their Aggie pride, a pride displayed through academics and athletics.

Thursday the board had intentions on taking the next step in sports by taking bids toward building a new Aggie Stadium, but plans have taken a minor detour.

School Principal Paul McAbee said, "they follow the American with Disabilities Act Guidelines. It was all over the elevator shaft in the press box, it was no big deal."

Features like an access elevator to the press box, and more public restrooms all ideas the school board will study through work sessions.

The complete renovation rounds out to about 36 million dollars with four million of that going towards a new football stadium.

While it doesn't look like much now, the new stadium will be built here just across the street from the old one.

The school board will hold a work session next Thursday with the next regularly scheduled meeting set for September 18th.

David: Showers and storms ongoing across the Valley

    Saturday, March 25 2017 5:50 PM EDT2017-03-25 21:50:37 GMT

Showers and storms will be ongoing across the Valley this evening. The most widespread rain will be over northeastern AL, but additional scattered storms will track into the Shoals from the west. That round of stormy weather will head east with time and should be out of the Valley after midnight. The threat for severe storms is low, but a few strong storms are possible.
