Public punishment for local couple

A man and woman convicted in Gadsden City Court are among the first to choose to take their punishment in public.

Cedric Jones and Lashonda Miller wore bright pink t-shirts imprinted with their charges as they walked outside Gadsden City Hall on Tuesday.

Jones was convicted of public intoxication and Miller was convicted of theft.

Municipal judge Mary Simmons got the idea when someone told her about seeing a similar form of punishment in Tennessee.
