Red Cross: Critical blood shortages causing surgery delays

The American Red Cross says some hospitals across the state are being forced to delay surgeries because of a critical blood shortage.

O-negative, B-negative and AB-negative are all in the urgent category at several hospitals in our region.

All other types are only at a one or two day supply. The Red Cross has issued an urgent appeal to people to help replenish the blood supply before a catastrophe strikes.
