Name of victim released in Sunday fire

A deadly fire at a home in Marshall County took the life of 45 year old Mark Mcanear Sunday morning.

The fire happened at the Hillcrest RV Park on Highway 69 east of Arab.

WAFF 48 News talked with several people in the area and the death is a loss that no one expected.

Nothing but crime scene tape, a charred bed, smoke filled windows and water dripping from firefighters' work remain where the man died.

Sunday morning, several emergency crews were on the scene.

Ollie Kennedy lives next door to the RV where the fire began.

"We could see smoke coming out around the air conditioner and the front part of the trailer so I was ready to move away, said Kennedy.

Residents in the park knocked to see if the man living there was at home.

"A fireman came with a fireproof suit on and he went inside and he found out there was a body in there," she said.

"We were surprised that he was gone."

Patience Reese's nephew lives on the opposite side of the RV. She says she knew the man and was shook up over his death.

"He came home and looked at [the scene], kept shaking his head and couldn't believe it, you know, somebody you've known for 5 months gone," Reese said.

The community is left trying to figure out how this fire started.

Emergency crews pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. An autopsy is being preformed to determine the cause of death.
