Inspectors taking closer look at the O'Neal Bridge

Another Valley bridge is getting a closer look by state inspectors.

Governor Bob Riley ordered the Department of Transportation to inspect the O'Neal Bridge between Florence and Sheffield over the Tennessee River.

That inspection began this morning.

It was built in 1939 and it's last regularly-scheduled inspection was last June.

The O'Neal Bridge and 2 others are designed like the span that collapsed in Minneapolis.

They're called steel deck truss bridges.

One spans the Tallapoosa River in Tallassee. Another crosses the Coosa River in Chilton County.
