Brothers arrested for stealing scrap metal

Two Valley brothers were arrested after being caught red-handed trying to steal scrap metal.

22-year-old Shannon Morton and 21-year-old Dustin Morton were taken into custody at the scrap yard at Progressive Rail in Albertville.

Police say they were trying to steal about 20 vehicle wheels and rims when an officer noticed their car in the parking lot.

They tried to run from officers, but were captured quickly, still inside the fenced area.

The Morton's were booked on charges of theft of property and criminal trespassing.

All the scrap metal, valued at only about $189, was recovered.
