Death toll rises to five in bridge collapse

MINNEAPOLIS- Crews have recovered a fifth body following the fatal bridge collapse in Minneapolis.

Authorities have lowered the number of people missing from 30 to eight.

At least 79 were injured when the interstate bridge plummeted more than 60 feet.

Divers are focusing on 13 areas on the upstream side of the Mississippi River near the Minneapolis bridge collapse.

More bodies have been spotted in the fast-moving currents.

Officials say the waters are "even more treacherous" than yesterday.

Meanwhile, engineers estimate the cost of repairing all the nation's bridges that are considered structurally deficient at more than 188 billion dollars.

More than 70 thousand bridges have that rating.

Federal officials have alerted states to immediately inspect bridges similar to the one that collapsed in Minneapolis.
