Farron Barksdale pleads guilty

Farron Barksdale, the man accused of killing two Athens police officers, will "never see the light of day again."

Limestone County Prosecutor Kristi Valls made that announcement this morning after Barksdale pleaded guilty to killing Officer Tony Mims and Seargeant Larry Russell.

Barksdale shot and killed Officer Mims and Sergeant Russell while they were responding to a call at Barksdale's home back in 2004.

Barksdale has a history of mental illness and multiple involuntary commitments.

Valls said Barksdale will spend the rest of his life in prison with no possibility of parole.
