Free gas pumps hundreds of drivers

The Chevron on Drake Avenue was quite the hot spot this morning as hundreds of drivers waited in line for free gas.

Huntsville placed fifth in the country for safe driving, and Allstate Insurance wanted to reward drivers by giving 10 gallons of gas to 400 people.

Renita Ward of Allstate said, "when a city is a safe place to drive, it's a safe place to live, work and raise families as an Allstate Company we have access to those data records, and we can say your're driving safe and we want you to keep it up, and here's some free gas."

The gas giveaway began at 9:00 a.m. and ended at 11:00 a.m.

Huntsville police also stayed busy because arguments broke out between motorists and a few cars ran out of gas while waiting to fill up their tanks.
