Kmart robbery suspect attacks three workers

A suspected robber got a little more than he bargained for at a local Kmart.  

Police officers in Decatur received an emergency call from Kmart's security officers yesterday afternoon from the store's location on Beltline Road.

When the suspect, Darrell Lynn Gray, ran outside with some stolen merchandise, a couple of Kmart  security officers confronted him.

That's when Gray allegedly punched one of the  employees, tackled a second employee to the ground, then hit the third employee.

Investigators say Gray assaulted and threatened the employees until  police officers arrived.

Gray was charged with several counts of robbery, resisting arrest, and several courts of theft of property.

Gray remains in the Decatur City Jail. 

He also has some outstanding warrants on unrelated charges of theft of property.
