Firefighter, child injured in separate Monday night accidents

A Valley firefighter was injured in a wreck while trying to respond to a wreck.

The first accident happened at about 9:15 Monday night on County Road 170. The car was going to Lawrence Baptist Medical Center taking a child who had been severely injured.

The car had four people inside of it and ran off the road, striking a tree and ejecting a one individual. The injured child was taken by Air-Evac to Huntsville Hospital. Three others were taken to Decatur General Hospital.

A few miles away a second accident occurred involving a Chalybeate volunteer firefighter responding to the first wreck.

This accident happened on County Road 305. The firefighter lost control in a curve, ran off the road, and flipped his pick-up truck. The firefighter was taken to Lawrence Baptist medical center in Moulton with non-life threatening injuries.
