Troubled day spa fire ruled suspicious

A Valley spa, in trouble for allegedly selling sex out of the store a few years back, burned to the ground this weekend.

Illusions Day Spa on Highway 231 in Lacey's Spring caught fire late Saturday night.

Nancy Long works at the diner next door to Illusions Day Spa.

"I thought it was hot tubs. I don't know what goes on beside that. It's hot tubs. I don't know the actual business. I've never been there before," says Nancy Long.

Today, no one is allowed inside Illusions.

It burned sometime late Friday night.

Tape surrounds the fire scene, as investigators try to determine a cause.

"I came to work Saturday morning the fire trucks were here," says Long.

This isn't the first time the controversial spa business has made news.

In 2003, undercover agents arrested 2 women for prostitution.

In 2004, according to Morgan County Authorities, Illusions Spa became a meeting point for prostitutes and johns, even serving as a money drop.

Angry residents complained and demanded that the business be shut down.

"I've seen people out there prostituting and stuff like that," says a Laceys Spring resident.

Not anymore, at least for now.

Fire gutted the inside of Illusions Spa closing this hot spot business with a troubled past.

If anyone has information on what might have caused illusions spa to burn, call the Morgan County Sheriff's Office at 256-351-4800.
