Change in driver's license office hours designed to reduce complaints

Applying for a driver's license office on Church Street in Huntsville will now become a less trying experience.

Starting next week, it'll open at 7:00 a.m., extending the previous operating schedule of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Public Safety Director Col. J. Christopher Murphy said the extended hours are provided as a convenience to the public and to better accommodate the demand for driver license services. Murphy said the recent changes are an outgrowth of his and Governor Bob Riley's pledge to address problems in the licensing system and to make customer service a priority.

A complete list of driver license office locations and schedules is available on the Department of Public Safety's Web site, www.dps.alabama.gov, under the Driver License Division link
