Summer means critically low blood supply in area

Huntsville Hospital is concerned about a critically low supply of blood.

The hospital's Blood Bank Manager today revealed the seriousness of the shortage.

She's comfortable when she has 100 units of O-Positive on the shelf, but she has only 28 units.

Having 20 units of O-Negative in stock is sufficient, but she has only 8 units.

Each summer, blood banks deal with a change in the blood supply around the country, as travel takes people away from school and work, where they often participate in blood drives.
