Trial begins for second man charged in 2005 liquor store slaying

Jury selection began today for the second man charged in connection with a 2005 liquor store killing.

Duwon Jones is accused of being the look-out in the 2005 robbery.

Jones was a teenager at the time of the crime, now at 20, he's being tried as an adult for felony murder.

Investigators say Jones and David Dewayne Riley robbed the Dandy's Package Store on Highway 72 in Florence and killed the clerk.

Riley was convicted earlier this year of murder.

Store surveillance video shows him leading the store clerk, Scott Michael Kirtley, at gunpoint to a storage room where he was shot in the head execution style.

Later, investigators found the gun they believe was used in the murder in Duwon Jones' bedroom.

Evidence along with Riley's testimony linked Jones to the crime.

Riley testified in his trial that he robbed the store to get money to pay back a drug debt to Jones.

Jones is facing a sentence of 10 years to life in prison.

The trial will resume in the morning.
