Decatur seniors have a sweet way to beat the heat

Sherman Allen enjoys his days at the Turner Surles Senior Center.

He says if someone doesn't have air conditioning at home, this is the place to be.

"It's wonderful, if people would come. Some people would rather sit around the house and sweat, than come up here and talk and be in the cool," says Allen.

And if you play your cards right, you can make a few friends along the way.

Irene Wells adds, "If you don't, you know, have air conditioning at home or even a fan.....and it's just wonderful to know we can come to place like this and be cool and comfortable."

Vera Miller agrees.

"We just enjoy it...every bit of it. We enjoy one another."

These folks don't have to shuffle their budget to participate.

It costs them only a dollar a day donation.
