WAFF 48 News Restaurant Scorecard for Thursday, June 7th

Restaurant Scorecard is checking up on those health valley health department scores for you, and this week we're visiting the Mall Express Texaco at 2200 University Drive in Huntsville.     

A recent Madison County inspection uncovered 12 violations, with three critical violations. Those criticals include a lost points for partially eaten food stored directly on food bags, chicken at unsafe temperatures in hot holding and raw chicken at unsafe temperatures in cold holding.

The violations all add up to earn the Mall Express Texaco our Rotten Rating...

They are currently posting a score of 75.

Remember scores below 85 mean more frequent visits from the health inspector.

La Hacienda mexican at 1000 Beltline Road in Decatur is on the list with an 82 on a recent Morgan County inspection.

The Research Park Chevron at 3720 Jordan Lane has some work to do with a health department score of 83.

We can't forget our scorecard standouts...

The Atlanta Bread Company at 6275 University Drive in Huntsville a high note with the health department on their last inspection with a 99!

Aromas Inc. in the same shopping center matches that standout score with a 99 of their own!

The Wal-Mart Supercenter Deli and Market on Hough Road in Florence, the Old Barber Shop Café in Valley Head and Kangaroo Express on Jackon Highway in Sheffield are all posting 99's!

The schools are scoring well...

G.W. Trenholm primary in Tuscumbia and Sparkman 9th grade in Harvest both get a gold star for the lunchroom with a 99.

Tharptown Junior High in Russellville is head of the class with a 100!

    A bus carrying elementary children was hit in the rear 30 miles north of Birmingham between Cullman and Birmingham in Blount County on 1-65 S. Tanner Elementary 21st Century Program was taking approximately 22 students and 3 faculty members to the Birmingham Zoo today when they were struck in the rear  After arriving on scene paramedics advise there are no injuries in this crash.
