Agents searching for explosives

Sheriff's deputies along with Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and explosives agents announced just this morning that they believe there are more explosives hidden in a cave by Alabama's Free Militia.

Today, ATF agents, members of the sheriff's special response team and the mounted unit are searching caves and wooded areas off U.S. Highway 11 between the homes of militia leader Raymond Kirk Dillard and member Adam Lynn Cunningham.

Agents say they got a tip that the members hid more explosives in the area.

Federal, state and local authorities raided the homes of six members of the Free Militia last week.

During the raid, officers found 130 homemade grenades, a grenade launcher, ammunition and a machine gun.

Five of the men face federal charges of conspiracy to make a firearm. All five are scheduled for a bond hearing in federal court in Birmingham today.

We'll have a live report with all of today's developments tonight on WAFF 48 News at Five and Six.
