Sheriff removes horse pen from county property

A controversy in a law enforcement department is settling down.

DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris has removed a horse pen from county property, as ordered by the County Commission.

Harris put the horse pen outside the sheriff's office last month for the mounted unit to train.

But the County Commission said the sheriff didn't have approval, which is required by state law. They gave Harris until the end of March to remove the pen.

Friday he moved that horse pen to private property near the original location.
