In a nation with so much wealth, it's hard to comprehend that there are so many people who will go to bed hungry tonight.
Food banks across the country do a major study on hunger every four years and this time around, they found that the problem has grown almost 20 percent since the last research.
These food banks are helping to provide food to about one out of every ten Americans. Nearly half of the people who are receiving help say they have had to choose between food and other necessities, such as utilities, rent or paying medical bills.
WAFF 48 News Reporter Robyn McGlohn profiled one area family that has had to make that kind of agonizing choice. People were quick to call the station to offer to help them, but clearly this is not just about one family in need.
