Nancy Worley is the incumbent Secretary of State.
She grew up on her family farm in New Hope in Madison County and graduated from New Hope High School.
She then graduated from the University of Montevallo and received a Master of the Arts degree from Jacksonville State.
Worley has studied at the University of London, the University of Edinburgh, the University of Alabama, and the University of Alabama Huntsville.
Worley taught English and Latin for 25 years at Decatur High School. She also taught part-time at Northeast State Junior College and Calhoun Community College.
