King has served as an Assistant Attorney General and various positions under Governors Fob James and Bob Riley.
King's first major project as Attorney General was the creation of his Family Protection Unit. This group works to alleviate child abuse and exploitation, elder abuse and exploitation, consumer welfare, and welfare fraud.
King and his wife, Paige, have three children. They are members of First Baptist Church in Montgomery .
