Roy Moore grew up in Etowah County.
He's likely best known for his stance on the 10 Commandments.
Moore was Chief Justice for the Alabama Supreme Court until the state's Court of the Judiciary removed him from the seat after finding that he failed to follow a court order to remove a monument of the 10 Commandments from the Capitol Rotunda.
Moore as served in the Army before becoming a Deputy District Attorney in Etowah County .
Following his time in the DA's office, Moore stayed in the legal community, in private practice.
He was elected Circuit Judge, Sixteenth Judicial Circuit in 1992, and Chief Justice in 2000.
Moore is running on the Republican ticket.
