Alabama Orthotics & Prosthetics was founded in 1977 by Jerry O. Swanson. Jerry is an above knee amputee who lost his left leg at the young age of 16. Since the age of 17, Jerry has dedicated himself to making a difference in the lives of patients with physical challenges.
Alabama Orthotics & Prosthetics has seven locations in Alabama and Mississippi. We have over 13 certified and/or licensed practitioners who help patients and their families with the life changing experience and education of wearing a prosthesis or or thosis. Alabama Orthotics & Prosthetics employs five amputees, which gives us unique insight and knowledge that is helpful to our patients. In addition to orthotics and prosthetics we offer counseling to patients and their families.
We work with area physicians and their staff informing them of innovative products and techniques in the prosthetics and orthotics field. We also assist surgeons in the hospital or physician’s office in taking the necessary steps to implement correct methods throughout the process. Alabama Orthotics & Prosthetics has moved along with technology using the Tracer-CAD system. The Tracer-CAD systems advanced digital design is much more accurate than that of conventional methods. This method eliminates the unnecessary steps of traditional processes and offers a prosthesis or orthosis with a more accurate fit and more functionally, at a much faster pace. With this system and our highly experienced practitioners we can combine the old
with the new to get what you need.
